PhD Hooding Ceremony - Saturday, May 27

PhD degree candidates are invited to participate in the PhD Hooding Ceremony and reception in Barton Hall on Saturday, May 27. Visit the PhD Hooding Ceremony information page for event details and a link to RSVP.

University Commencement Ceremony - Sunday, May 28

PhD and Master degree candidates participate in the University Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 28. Candidates will assemble on the Arts Quad by 9:15am wearing cap, gown, hood & tassel to line up for the academic procession to Schoellkopf Stadium. Candidates assemble, process to the stadium, and sit with the college conferring their degree:
Grad School: PhD
Grad School: all MPS degrees
Grad School: Master degrees not listed with other colleges
Johnson: MBA
Engineering: MEng
Hotel School: MMH
Architecture (AAP): MArch1

Eligibility to Participate

  • Eligibility:
    Graduate students who will be earning a May 2017 degree, or who have earned an August 2016 or January 2017 degree, are eligible to participate in Commencement 2017 events. Candidates for August 2017 and January 2018 may also participate ("walk early"). PhD candidates are encouraged to participate in the PhD Hooding Ceremony on Saturday, as well as Commencement on Sunday. Review information posted on the Graduate School website and follow instructions to obtain a commencement packet and order cap & gown.

Cap and Gown

Appropriate academic regalia must be worn by degree candidates. Cap & Gown may be rented and returned, and the rental order includes all pieces appropriate to one's degree. (Want to purchase regalia to own? Herff Jones sells regalia all year long.)

Commencement Packet

    Commencement packets are not mailed to parents of graduate students. Please follow instructions here to obtain a Commencement packet.

Commencement Program

    To ensure that your name is printed in the Commencement Program, please review instructions and deadlines posted on the Graduate School website.

Diplomas

    Diplomas are mailed, not distributed at Commencement events.
