Cap and Gown

Student Regalia Rental

Wearing the cap and gown is both traditional and required for participation in the ceremony. Students may obtain a tassel, cap, and gown for the ceremony and return the cap and gown immediately afterwards. The tassel may be kept by the student.

Undergraduate candidates: rental is free if ordered by 4/15/09
Master degree candidates: rental fee is $15.77
Ph.D. degree candidates: rental fee is $57.08
Law degree candidates: rental fee is $57.08

Advanced orders will not be processed after April 15 preorder deadline.

Students who did not preorder their cap and gown by the April 15th deadline may walk in at the pick-up location in Teagle Hall (see dates and times noted below) to receive an outfit. Every effort is made to fit all graduates but appropriate sizes cannot be guaranteed with walk-in orders. At this distribution location please bring $10 cash for the late fee plus rental fee noted above. Please bring cash to the pick-up location, as checks, credit cards, and debit cards will not be accepted.

Pickup Regalia Location Information:

Please pick up the tassel, cap, and gown at Teagle Hall, 1st floor Multi-Purpose Room. Enter Teagle Hall from the parking lot between Teagle and Lynah Rink.

Saturday, May 23, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Return Regalia Location Information:

Please return the cap and gown after the ceremony at one of the collection centers on campus by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24th.

The exact locations will be specified in the commencement program.

How To Purchase Custom Regalia

Ph.D. degree candidates and faculty wishing to purchase a tassel, cap, gown, and/or hood must order by March 10, 2009, to allow 8 to 12 weeks for delivery. To order go to http://www.herff-jones.com/college/cornell.
